we identified in the implementation of the Professional Standards Review Organization (PSRO) program. My testimorny today is based on the results of our review to date, which includes field work at 15 PSROs in 11 States and at the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW). We expect to complete our field work at these locations and two. the ‘back-end’ mechanism, the Professional Standards Review Organizations (PSROS)” (98). The PSRO program is one of the principal ex-pressions of Federal policy concerning the use of medical services. The PSRO program, estab-lished in by Public Law , is adminis- tered by the Health Standards and Quality Bu-. Professional Standards Review Organization: (PSRO) an organization established to monitor health care services paid for through Medicare, Medicaid, and Maternal and Child Health programs to assure that services provided are medically necessary, meet professional standards, and are provided in the most economic medically appropriate health care. Standards for Professional Learning outline the characteristics of professional learning that leads to effective teaching practices, supportive leadership, and improved student results. Through the Standards for Professional Learning, Learning Forward leads the field in understanding what links professional learning to improved student achievement.
